While embarking on only his second full season as a professional, Moreno Moser carries a depth of experience that few can match. Moser, only 23, is from a storied cycling family. His uncles, his father, his brothers, and a cousin have all ridden as professionals. His promising debut season demonstrated that there is something special in his DNA.
Moreno came to the team late in the 2011 season as a stagiaire, a French term for a professional tryout. He impressed, and signed a two-year contact. In his first full year, he opened with season with a victory at the Trofeo Laigueglia, an early-season race where everyone wants to show off his or her team colors. And he did it by attacking solo.
From there, he won four more times, both on his own and in sprints. Despite his relative inexperience, he was chosen for the Squadra Azzura, Italy’s world championship team, where he rode aggressively as a gregario for the team’s leader. Having shown well in his debut season, 2013 should present more opportunities for the young Trentin to flash across the finish line first.
